Google instituted an update that killed SEO marketing..what you need to know

In October 2011,  Google instituted a new update which may kill the search engine marketing efforts you make for your wedding website.

What problems did it cause?  Well, we no longer have an accurate view of how many visits are being generated via our targeted key phrases. Why?  Because it doesn't allow Google Analytics (or any analytics system) to track which keywords a bride used to find your wedding website through the Google search engine.  This renders any search engine wedding marketing campaign inaccurate.

Search engines is the leader in website visits, and now we have no way of tracking what keywords are providing us with the wedding sales. Granted, you can back track to see where these brides came in (what content page) however, you will never truly know what keywords they entered to find you.

Google (not provided)

So, if you're investing time and money into increasing your wedding websites rank in the search engines, you won't be able to pinpoint your success with keyword positioning anymore.

This may be a strategic move by Google to dilute the effectiveness of SEO and force wedding vendors to use PPC (pay per click) which makes sense for Google financially but forces a rise in wedding marketing budgets.

All in all, it seems like a huge step backwards in the marketing world.....just another reason why social media and email marketing to brides is so important.
